Italian artist Gio abstractly represents
nature in all its force and beauty. In his paintings, the disposition
of each color is sensitively determined, and they work together
to form a viscerally felt mood.
His mysterious forms reflect an
interest in Nordic Runes and Rosicrucian symbols. Having achieved
an original, personal style, Gio is studious of the history of
abstract painting.
Drawing inspiration as much from Action Painting
as Op Art, his radiant, individual sensibility shines through his
dazzling brushstrokes.
Gio investigates color’s potential to probe
and heal the viewer’s psyche. Goethe and Rudolf Steiner have proved
very influential to his thinking. Intellectually curious across
multiple disciplines, Gio invites complex, varied interpretations.
Also an accomplished drummer, he credits music’s influence in the
creation of his work.
He generally paints with oils on canvas, but
has experimented over time with various media. Through canvases
that vibrate with frenetic multicolored forms, Gio communicates a willingness
for fantastic events to occur in our lives.
In a style that is both ancient and modern at once, Giovanni Battista
Sciello or "Gio" orchestrates beautiful abstract paintings that
speak to audiences through a medley of simple geometric shapes
and brilliant colors. His work is founded upon the interplay between a graphic, hard-edged foreground made up of lines, circles, zigzags and crosses, and the tactile, painterly aesthetic of backgrounds.

Dall’essenza primaria della produzione pittorica di Sciello è possibile estrapolare due strutture compositive e formali differenti ed al contempo in perfetto equilibrio tra loro: il pittore e saggista russo Vassily Kandinsky, pioniere del Simbolismo e dell’ Astrattismo, paragonerebbe queste due tendenze ad altrettante tecniche di composizione musicale.

La pittura di Gio Sciello è un fenomeno complesso; per lui, come per altri protagonisti dell'arte contemporanea, occorre, per una chiara interpretazione, il sussidio culturale. Nella produzione pittorica di questo artista, sono parte essenziale simboli e segni, che nella loro eccezione semantica, sono presenti in gran parte dei suoi lavori. Tutto questo è rappresentato attraverso degli elaborati secondo l'utilizzazione di sfondi cromaticamente forti.
